VIP Vieira Buttered Biscuit: more than half a century of tradition and quality

Our history begins in 1948, with the patriarch Alcindo Vieira. Coming from the bakery business, Alcindo moved his interest to the manufacture of buttered biscuits. But he wanted a different product. Along with his friend Jorge Eugênio Santiago, from Pacotuba (state of Espírito Santo, in Brazil), he developed an original recipe, which remains the same until nowadays. Some years later, with his entrepreneurial vision, Calvino patented the VIP Vieira brand with the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI).

In addition to the buttered biscut making, Alcindo maintained four bakeries in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (also in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo). At that time, 800 packages of 200 grams per day were produced.

In 1973, Alcindo is widowed by Joventina Firmo Vieira and decides to divide the bakeries among his children. One of them was handed over to his son Calvino Firmo Vieira. He took on VIP Vieira at the age of 25, but had already worked with his father since he was 15 years old.

Then, with a visionary mind and beside his wife Eliane de Souza Vieira, Calvino decides to industrialize the buttered biscuits. The product, previously sold per unit, started to be packed in special boxes, with its own logo.

As a result, 4,000 packages were already produced per day, in an expanding and promising market. At that time, VIP Vieira started serving several cities in the Brazilian states of Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

In the 1990s, Calvino outsourced the buttered biscuits distribution, in order to better serve customers. Until then, he served all cities alone with his Ford F-4000 truck, covering 6,000 km per month.

In 2003, VIP Vieira opens a partnership, aiming to stabilize business and expand the market. In 2012, the old partnership ends, but two new partners joined the business: Fernando Carlos Fernandes and Fernanda Almeida Martins Fernandes. With them, the company is in full growth and with great prospects.

VIP Vieira's story is thus a family and love story passed down from father to son.
